"What a blessing virtuous women are to those around them—including their husbands and children, as the scripture says. I received a blessing a long time ago that encouraged me to portray true and beautiful womanhood. This series of paintings devoted to Proverbs 31 seems to be a starting point of the divine guidance. I wanted to reflect the scripture as well as celebrate the inherent characteristics of women in Africa. They are so industrious and generous and survive appalling conditions with their dignity intact."
