In this painting, Florence refers to the Savior’s teachings in the Beatitudes: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). While living in Scotland, Florence met many local youth who came from immensely challenging situations, who, despite their circumstances, were pure in heart and consistently doing their best to transcend those circumstances.
