The power of the story of the poor widow who cast two mites into the temple treasury comes in part from her profound faithfulness, her sincere trust in the Lord, and her humility. In the midst of obvious hardship, she gave “all that she had, even all her living” (Mark 12:44). Her mites have come to symbolize true bravery and devotion in living one’s beliefs, as well as the many sacrifices faithful Saints make today to pay their tithing.
