Armenian Needle Lace
Arslanian learned to make Armenian needle lace from her mother and grandmother, who came to the United States in 1966. Although they arrived with just a few possessions, they brought their relationships, their religion, and their talents. For Arslanian, working within the medium of Armenian needle lace reminds her of the sacrifices of her family, and each stitch symbolizes the gospel that binds her family together. Just as her parents told her the stories of Jesus, so she will pass on these stories to generations to come.
