In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ took upon Himself the cumulative burden of all our sufferings, pains, sorrows, and sins. He fully submitted Himself to the will of the Father, and because of this holy and completely unselfish act, we are able to be made whole. In this painting, Wilson has endeavored to represent our dark sins and pain being overcome by the light of our perfect Redeemer. Although this had to be the darkest of moments for Him, it is His brightest gift to us.
