To express his sacred feelings about the Savior, Knowles has used the emblems of the weekly sacrament and other biblical metaphors. The broken bread symbolizes the Savior’s broken flesh, and the water stands for His blood shed to atone for the sins of the world, for “surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4). The Aramaic writing “Yeshua Adonai” means “Jesus is the Lord,” while the empty chair reminds us of the triumph of the Savior’s Second Coming.
