To the woman of Samaria, Jesus declared Himself to be the long-awaited Messiah, revealing the powerful and eternal truth that He is the Redeemer of the World, sent to earth to fulfill His role in the Father’s plan of salvation. Breaking with codes of social behavior common for the time, Christ showed His compassion for all in this encounter, expressing His love for the individual, for the sinner.
