Historically, many cultures have used the symbol of the circle as the heavens and the square as the earth. These two symbols have often been combined as a representation of the union between heaven and earth. For us to overcome all that is earthly and gain the eternal doorway into God’s heavenly kingdom, we must sacrifice everything we are and everything we have, as did the man who found the pearl of great price in the parable told by Jesus.
