The parable of the prodigal son, a story that is personal to the artist, describes a man who had two sons, both of whom were lost in some way. The younger son squandered his inheritance but ultimately, in desperation, turned back home. The elder brother also had to turn to his Father, as all prodigals must do, for all are in need of the grace of Jesus Christ.
