This intaglio depicts the beginning and the end of the Savior’s mortal ministry—the angelic announcement of the Savior’s birth to the shepherds and the visit of the resurrected Savior to Mary Magdelene. At the tomb, Jesus called Mary by name, and she, recognizing His voice, called him “Rabboni; which is to say, Master” (John 20:16). This work becomes a visual representation of the spiritual awakening that occurs when one receives a testimony of the resurrected Christ.
