John 6:9–14 tells of a lad who selflessly contributed his five barley loaves and two fishes to be used by the Savior to miraculously feed 5,000 people. This painting depicts the boy’s older sister, who, in the artist’s imagination, climbed into the foothills near Galilee and delivered the food she had prepared. This contribution allowed the Savior to physically feed those gathered to hear Him and also manifest His divinity to them.
