Depicting two modern houses, one on a rock cliff and the other buried in the flood waters, Stephens’s painting portrays the parable of the wise man and the foolish man. Both houses are shown in the same style to show that each person has the choice to build on rock or sand. Said Stephens, “Just as our involvement in building a life based on the Savior will lead us to unity and inner peace, the opposite construct will not provide a suitable foundation when trouble comes.”
