    1841-17 15 May 1841: Elder John D. Lee writes about his mission to Jackson and Rutherford Co., Tenn. He reports baptizing upwards of thirty in Rutherford and surrounding counties that he labored part time with Elders T. M. Edwards and Webster and that he cannot fill all the calls and requests more elders. 1841-62 7 Oct 1841: Elder Lee was called by the council of the Twelve to a mission to Jackson and Rutherford Co., Tenn at a conference in Nauvoo. 11 Sep 1843: Elder Lee reports a mission with Elder Henry B. Jacobs starting about Christmas time. They arrived in the southern part of Kentucky. Elder Lee left Elder Jacobs in Kentucky where he baptized 10 or 12 and went on to Nashville, Tenn. There he joined Elder John S. Twiss on & 18 May 1844. Shortly after, Elder Twiss returned home. Elder Lee baptized 28 and organized a branch in the western part of Rutherford Co. amidst great opposition from Lt Dickey and others. He restored several to health while there.
