    Young, Lorenzo Dow, one of the original pioneers of Utah, was born Oct. 19, 1807 at Smyrna, Chenango, New York, a son of John Young and Nabie Howe. He was a brother of Pres. Brigham Young. He was a gardner and nursery man raising fine fruit and vegtables. He erected a house close to the present site of the Eagle Gate and was Bishop of the 18th Ward, Salt Lake City, Utah from 1851 to 1878 and died in Salt Lake City Nov. 21, 1895.

Young and others.It is not clear if this is Lorenzo Dow Young, son of John Young. JSP cites Whitney, History of Utah, 4:54 and has he was ordained a Patriarch in 1877. Whitney states on page 54 that "shortly before Pres. Young's death, in 1877, Bishop Young was ordained by him a Patriarch,"
