    Historical Department Journal History of the Church, September 1831.

    1831-9 14 Jun 1831: John Murdoc, Hyrum Smith, Lyman Wight, John Corrill, Mother Lucy Smith and Almira Mack left Kirtland and went to Fairport and took passage to Detroit, Michigan. Being unsuccessful there, Lyman Wight and John Corrill went north through Oakland Co., Michigan and Hyrum and John Murdock through Pigeon Praire, Michigan thence to Pekin.

    Death: 31 Mar 1858 in Decker, Travis, Texas. Baptized by Oliver Cowdery in 1830. ordained Elders soon after; ordained a High Priest 3 Jun 1831. He was the first HP ordained in this dispensation; chosen Apostle in 1841; died 31 Mar 1858 in Texas. (See sketch in Bio. Ency. Vol. 1: p. 93.)
