Seen from Joseph’s perspective, this version of the First Vision—the appearance of God the Father and Jesus Christ to the boy prophet—allows the viewer to imagine the personal discoveries Joseph made. Like Joseph, members of Christ’s Church seek mercy, truth, and answers to prayer. They, like Joseph, are commanded to look to Christ and hear Him.
