One thousand paper cranes representing human skin tones hang together in this work. The cranes are separated by gold and gathered in 25 strands of 40—25 symbolizing God’s grace and 40 symbolizing repentance and preparation. Each crane was created for a specific person—the paper was printed using a digital skin sample, folded with a prayer, and gathered into the whole. Origami paper folding celebrates the possiblities and power of transformation. The work is a wish for peace, made possible by the Prince of Peace, represented by the olive leaf crown.
"The entire work is a symbol of Zion, a community changed by the Atonement of Christ, where ‘all are alike’ in their commitment to love and peace."
