Portraying empathy and shared pain in red, Cheney meditates on the ability to lift up the hands that hang down while one—due to life’s circumstances or mental illness—is in pain. Cheney notes that when Christ came to the home of His friend Lazarus who had passed away, He “groaned in the spirit, and was troubled” (John 11:33). Like Christ, His followers can mourn with those that mourn by “offering a soft heart, listening ears, and sitting in the sacred space with those that are in need.”
“Through the miracle of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, sharing tears is able to miraculously reduce them.”
