Bread is a scriptural representation of the Savior, who referred to Himself as the Bread of Life (see John 6:35). The rough cloth the three loaves rest on resembles a funeral stone, on which Christ’s body was laid out. While painting this image, the artist painted loaves of bread that he ate and shared with others, only to find himself served bread when he experienced his own health crisis shortly after. With new perspective, Pack felt this bread represented love, service, and his own hands, which were lifted when they hung down.
“We had been the recipients of ministering when we truly needed it.”
