Inspired by chain-link quilt patterns, Larsen creates a ceramic work where the four corners of each square appear to lift and be lifted by adjacent squares. Larsen notes that within Latter-day Saint congregations, “there are some who have taken on too much responsibility, some who serve eagerly and confidently, some who nervously try their best, some who don’t show up, some who feel they have been forgotten. Some have firm testimonies about most things. Some have doubts about most things.” A Latter-day Saint community provides opportunities to lift and be lifted.
“Even the strongest among us need to be lifted. Even the weakest among us can lift.”
