In this painting, Buxton honors her neighbor Brother Coates, who gifted her apricots and a piano performance. A vertical stretch of greens and yellows divides this painting into two halves. Buxton honors the noble piano player in full color—something bright in an otherwise drab composition. She notes that the song he performed for her “stirred in me feelings of gratitude for the gift of my life and the amazing and wonderful love of our Heavenly Father and His plan of happiness.”
“I know [Brother Coates] practices so he can bless people with a song when they stop by.”
