Hands both confident and yearning hold up an empty cup, a prayer to be filled. There is faith in the proferring, and that faith is about to be rewarded; a stream of water falls to fill the cup. The amount ensures that the cup will overflow. Waiting on God’s blessings might feel like an act of patience and faith; but, Schwieger notes, “our cup will run over, so much so that we will not have room enough to receive all the blessings God has in store for us.”
“Our empty cups, our heartache, loneliness, confusion, and losses are incredibly heavy to hold. Yet we still stretch our depleted cups toward heaven with a bold, active faith, trusting that God’s promises will be fulfilled.”
