With a satchel of bread and two hanging fishes, a young boy approaches the Savior, who crouches down to accept the boy’s offering. The lad hands Christ a wildflower, a symbol of his heart’s desires, and is transformed in the process, mimicking the transformations of the butterflies that flit about the scene. Identifying with the young boy in the scene, Etherington counsels, “Whether we are parents, ministers, or leaders—and certainly as we are disciples of Christ—we must give all of our heart and all of our effort to Him (even when it feels like we bring only crumbs of bread).”
“Jesus always transforms our humble offerings.”
