In Luke 8, the evangelist tells of two healings. Christ rushed with the man Jairus to visit Jairus’s dying daughter. On the way, a woman with an issue of blood grabbed Christ’s raiment. Christ, sensing it was important, stopped to tell the woman, “Thy faith hath made thee whole” (Luke 8:48). In his image, Jairus stands behind the Savior, impatient as his daughter’s need is pressing. But the woman with an issue of blood looks up as the calm Savior reaffirms her faith. Christ then enters Jairus’s house after his daughter has died, and reassures those present, “And she shall be made whole” (Luke 8:50). Christ’s calm is justified; the Savior heals both women.
“The Savior’s power to heal is unlimited. . . . He will lift us all.”
