The model for this piece had the opportunity to choose her own name. She called herself “Adaeze,” which is Igbo for “daughter of a king.” The figure addresses the viewer with confidence, recognizing that because of her identity as a child of our heavenly King, she is capable and of great value. The artist has employed symbols from diverse cultures in the background to convey prosperity, leadership, the importance of being heard, and endurance.
