The prophet Malachi described hearts that turn to one’s ancestors. Tobiasson has tried to capture that feeling here as a mother and her four children reach up, only to feel the presence of her ancestors who have passed on. They reach toward each other. There are breaks in the circle, representing missing family members who must be searched for and found before the group is complete. They stand in a field of “dandelion wishes,” symbolic of the faith and hope necessary as one seeks family members who have passed on.
“Our ancestors need us as we need them. There are many yet waiting to be found and taken to the temple for their sacred linking ordinances to be fulfilled.”
