The figures portrayed in this work depict humanity in various states of need. The large window behind them and the empty cross remind the viewer that God’s light and love shine on all of His children. The border depicts hands in actions of service; some bring food, flowers, and notes of love while others grasp, reach, write, and bless as they strive to communicate the motto of the Latter-day Saint women’s organization: “Charity never faileth” (1 Corinthians 13:8).
“These hands are busy in acts of charity and love to family, to neighbors, and to strangers. They are our best ways of following Christ.”
—Miriam Rawson
