Leavitt paints her interpretation of the ten lepers who were “cleansed” and healed by the Savior (Luke 17:14). Each of the healed lepers reacts with awe and celebration. But one healed man returns to the Savior and drops to his knees in gratitude. It seems Christ then offers a spiritual and a physical healing: “Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole” (Luke 17:19). Leavitt uses white horizontal lines to indicate Christ’s power extending to those around Him. While His power cleanses all the men, only he who returned in gratitude is made whole.
“When we give ourselves back to Him, He's able to give us so much more.”
