  • This pioneer appears in the 1850 Utah census twice: once as David Gentry, age 25, and again as Sanderson Gentry, age 23.  In both instances he was  born in Kentucky and had the same wife and child.  In the 1860 Utah census he is listed as a twenty-seven-year-old (b. 1833), in 1870 he is forty-seven (b. 1823), in 1880 he is fifty-one (b. 1829).  In each of these cases he is "Sanderson" Gentry. Find-A-Grave.com cites both a birth and a death date but gives no source of the information and calls him Sanderson Damer "Doc" Gentry.  Additional research is needed to clarify all this and to identify the year he crossed the plains and the name of the pioneer company with which he traveled.

Some records list his middle name as David.
