Evidence from census and genealogical records prove that William traveled to Utah in 1851. He appears in the 1850 Iowa census, taken in September 1850. The first documentation to place him in Utah is his marriage to Martha Bennett 31 May 1852, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company he traveled to Utah with.
His name appears in the Payson, Utah Ward records in 1852.
