William Fife

  • There are two other men by the name of William Fife in this database. One is William Nicol Fife, born 16 October 1831, and the second is William Fife, born 3 January 1837. It is likely that the William that participated in the rescue effort is one of the above Williams, but further research is needed to determine which.

William Nicol Fife (born 1831) kept a rather detailed journal and makes no mention of participating in the rescue effort in 1856. However, lack of information in his journal is not evidence enough to assume the rescuer was the William born in 1837.
