  • Grace sailed to America in 1849 on the ship Zetland.

    She is listed in the 1850 Missouri census as "Grace Barre," with her parents.  

    Her death certificate and obituary, with her name as "Grace Wood," state that she had been in Utah for 50 years, which would make her arrival about 1864.  She married George Wood in Missouri in 1861, and being as he also died in Utah, it is likely that he came to Utah with her.  

    Her birth and death dates are confirmed by her obituary, death certificate, and the inscription on her gravestone.
