    The family sailed to America in 1849 on The Zetland.  Another daughter, Mary (born 1849), was on the ship with the family. FamilyTree lists her death year as 1849.

    The birth date of Thomas is calculated from his age listed in his obituary:  81 years, 1 month, 13 days.  The inscription on his gravestone also gives his birth date as 27 September 1806.
