  • Peter crossed the Atlantic on the ship James Pennell in 1849.  At the time of the 1850 federal census he was living at St. Louis, Missouri under the name Peder Fair Clough.  In 1852 he is in the records of Utah Territorial militia and in 1856 Territorial census he is Peter "Faircloth"  living in the Salt Lake City 7th Ward.   His obituary says he arrived in Utah in 1851 and that he was a stone cutter who worked on the Salt Lake temple.
