  • Francis was born in Harrison County, Kentucky.  He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 9 November 1851 at Salt Lake City; a Charles Green helped to confirm him (Charles was or became Francis' father-in-law.)  The baptism record spells Francis’ surname “McClaim.”  In 1855 Francis paid tithing at Kay's Ward (modern Kaysville, Utah).  The tithing record says that he was farming ten acres of land for P. H. Young, but the crop was "totally destroyed by grasshoppers." On 4 September 1855, Francis received a Patriarchal Blessing from Isaac Morley.  At the time of the 1856 Utah Territorial Census, Francis and his wife Lovina Green McLain were living in Davis County, Utah but Francis paid tithing at South Cottonwood where his father-in-law lived.  Francis died at Los Angeles, California.
