  • Rachel, her Mother, Ann Heath and brother George Heath sailed to America in 1855 on the ship Charles Buck.  It is not known if her mother and brother came on to Utah.  Rachel married Berrill Covington, Jr. in Salt Lake City on 28 February 1858.  This was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration, which proves that she arrived in Utah between 1855 and 1858.  Further research is needed to determine the year of her arrival and the name of the pioneer company with which she traveled.

The 1860 Utah census shows her name as "Rachel Southwell."  Her death certificate also shows the same and it confirms her death date.
