  • Perpetual Emigrating Fund records indicate that he initially traveled to the Valley in 1861. He was living with the Henry and Mary George family in Philadelphia at the time of the 1860 census.  The George family also crossed the plains in 1861 so it is likely that he traveled with them but further research is necessary to confirm this and identify the name of the company with which they traveled.

Three years later he is seen crossing the plains again, this time as a teamster for Canfield's 1864 out-and-back company.

Company Unknown (1861)
