  • Came with her mother Mary Jane Brooks Williams. She traveled with 4 family members.

A journal entry by William Williams in 1850 lists the following about this family: William Williams and Mary Brooks were married 8 Nov 1841. Their oldest son, Thomas, was born while crossing the Gulf of Mexico December 1842 and died February 1843 in St. Louis from Dysentery.

Nephi Parley Williams was born 1 January 1844 in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Sophia Jane Williams was born 9 November 1846 Nickersons Island opposite Nauvoo after having been driven from Nauvoo by a (sic) anti-Mormon mob and we went on this island during her sickness having no other place to go at that time.

Mariah Elisa Williams was born 1 March 1849 in Keokuk Lee County Iowa ...

Laura Annie Williams was born 9 Dec 1851 in Kaynesville Pottawattamie County Iowa we having moved there last October on route to Salt Lake Valley.

This same journal contains 19 pages written by William Williams and documents in detail his membership into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England and his family lineage. It appears that William may have died before the trip was made and Mary traveled with her four small children alone.

According to the 1860 US Federal Census, Mary married Leonard L Randall and had more children.

Birth date and death date listed was found in a personal online family history record (such as Family Tree, Ancestry, or My Heritage) without any accompanying documentation. Further research is needed to verify its accuracy.
