  • John, his wife Jane and their daughter Lillias sailed to America on the ship Sailor Prince, all three arriving in New Orleans on 20 November 1848; but Lillias is not on the 1850 census of Missouri.  However, another daughter (Margaret,) was born before John and Jane crossed the plains and must have accompanied them on the trek.  Both John and Jane were re-baptized at Salt Lake City on 19 March 1854 and they each received a Patriarchal Blessing in West Weber from Isaac Morely on 15 July 1856.  At the time of the 1860 federal census they were living at Washoe Valley, Carson County, Nevada with five children (including Margarett.)  The other four children had been born in Utah.

The family surname has many different spellings "Tweedale," "Tweddale," "Tweddel," "Tweeddale," "Twaddel," and "Twadle."
