Daniel McCoy

Facebook Twitter Print Mail
  • Daniel was on his way to the California gold fields but stopped in Salt Lake City long enough to be baptized by Ezra T. Benson into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Stains on 7 April 1850.  On 7 May 1850 he continued on to California in a company led by  William D. Huntington.  This company included "men bound for the California gold mines and also a number of missionaries called to the Society Islands."  By the time of the 1860 federal census Daniel was back with his family in Lock Township, Elkhart County, Indiana.  Before his death he joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
