  • Though his PEF account was recorded in 1862, there is a notation indicating that he actually traveled in 1860. The amount recorded would have been sufficient for two people. It is very likely his wife was with him. Their two daughters, Margaret and Barbara, remained in Pennsylvania and did not come to the Valley until the following year. Further research is needed to identify the name of the company they traveled with.

Birth month and year confirmed by 1900 federal census.
