Mary Ann Stockdale Carter Martin

  • Widow of Edwin Carter and James Martin Sr. After the death of her second husband, Mary emigrated from England with her children, daughters Ellen, Jane, and Mary Ann Carter, and her son James Martin Jr. They sailed on the Thornton, and arrived in New York on 14 June 1856. After saving up money for 5 years they were able to head West with the Andrus Company of 1861. Daughters Jane and Mary Ann were able to head West in 1859.

    She was buried in Snowville Utah with the surname of "Robbins," which was her daughter Jane's married name.
