George Mayer
The Mayer family initially traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with the Heber C. Kimball Company in 1848. The Family included George and his wife Ann Yost, and their daughters Rachel Ann, Mary Ann, Catherine, Mariah Yost, and Sarah Jane. Not long after the family arrived in the Salt Lake Valley, Ann gave birth to another daughter, Diantha Mayer.
In the fall of 1852, George left to serve in the Swiss-German mission. At the end of that mission, George returned home with the Richard Ballantyne Company in 1855. He was a Captain of ten.
