  • Samuel's daughter's history, written at the age of 88 years old, indicates that she and her father traveled in 1852 on the ship International. However, the International only sailed in 1853 and neither of their names are on that passenger list. Their names appear on the passenger lists for the Carmillis, arriving in New Orleans on 7 June 1853. Emma's history indicates that they made the overland journey only weeks after arriving in America. For this reason we have placed them in the unknown 1853 company. Further research is needed to identify the name of the company they traveled with.

First documentation to place them in the valley is Emma's rebaptism in the Slatersville Ward on 14 October 1860.
