  • He started traveling with his parents and his brothers in the Bunker company. After his mother died on the trail, he and his siblings were put under the care of Hannah Evans (who would later marry his father) who was in the Hunt company. According to Utah census records, Joseph lived with his father and stepmother in 1860.
