  • The Samuel Curling ship manifest lists Sarah as a "spinster." Her mother, Catherine Bowen James, appears on the manifest but her name does not appear on the 1856 Edward Bunker company roster. Family histories give her death date as 10 June 1856, which would have been prior to the departure of the Edward Bunker Company on 23 June 1856 from Florence, Nebraska.

Her Idaho death certificate shows her name as "Sarah James Jones."
