  • Her birth and death dates are confirmed by her obituary. Although her son, James, traveled with the family as far as Iowa City, he left the company before it set out and returned to England (see Preston Guardian, Nov. 29, 1856 and Dec. 6, 1856).

    The family sailed to America in 1856 on the ship Horizon.
