George Davis Grant
George initially traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in the Brigham Young Company in 1848.George returned from a mission in Great Britain in 1856. After his mission, he worked with other officials to coordinate the emigration companies that year. He was elected company captain of a small group of immigration officers and returning missionaries returning home at the end of the emigration season. Immediately after arriving, he turned around and went back out to participate as one of the rescuers that were sent out to assist the members of the Church stranded in Wyoming.
