James Carrigan
James and his family (wife, Ann Scothan and sons, Henry and James) began their overland journey with the Justus Morse Company in 1850. When that company dissolved, they joined the Shadrach Roundy company that was passing by.
At the end of a mission in 1857, James crossed the Atlantic on the ship George Washington with Lois Bent. They then crossed the plains with the Jesse B. Martin Company, James was captain of the 2nd Ten. He married Lois at Salt Lake City on 28 December. His given name was recorded as “Lewis” in Charles Root Dana’s autobiography.
