  • His given name is listed as "Nicholas" in the 1870 Utah census, but all other records, including his gravestone, show his given name as "Nicolai."  His birth and death dates are confirmed by the inscription on his gravestone.  

    The family sailed to America in 1857 on the ship Westmoreland.

    The journal of his son, Isaac describes their journey to Utah.
